If you’re like any fast food lover, you have your favorite staples on the menu. And if your chain of choice discontinues those items, it’s heartbreaking, to say the least.
However, sometimes we’re lucky enough to have fast food restaurants bring old-school items back—and it’s like Christmas Day all over again. Case in point: Whataburger. To celebrate a milestone anniversary, it’s welcoming back two very popular items that people have been begging for to see return for years.
Whataburger’s Monterey Melt and Chicken Fajita Taco Return to Menus
Whataburger has been serving its hamburgers to customers since 1950 and is gearing up to celebrate 75 years in business by bringing back two fan-favorite menu items.
After countless social media pleas, fan requests have finally been answered. The fast food restaurant chain based in San Antonio—and Simone Biles’ go-to—has officially welcomed back its Monterey Melt and Chicken Fajita Taco to the menu.
The Monterey Melt hasn’t been seen since 2022 but was a major player back when it graced hungry eaters with its presence. It’s constructed of two beef patties smothered with melted Monterey Jack and American cheeses and topped off with grilled onions and peppers and the signature Jalapeño Ranch sauce for a spicy kick.
While the fast food joint is known for its hamburgers—”burger” is literally in the name—that doesn’t mean chicken isn’t a star in the drive-thru. In fact, the Chicken Fajita Taco, made with grilled chicken breast and seared onions, poblano, and red peppers in a soft flour tortilla, was so popular that Whataburger is bringing it back alongside its legendary spicy, cheesy burger.
These two oldie-but-goodie items being brought back are reason enough to celebrate—and run to the restaurant since they’ll only be available for a very limited run—but Whataburger isn’t quite finished there. You can also enjoy two brand-new drinks that are perfect to indulge in all winter long.
Whataburger Introduces 2 New Drinks
The next time you hit up your local Whataburger, you can try the restaurant’s new Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor in two forms. You have your choice of Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee served iced or hot and a thick and creamy Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake.
If you haven’t experienced the deliciousness of Mexican chocolate, you can expect a flavorful explosion of both bittersweet chocolate and notes of cinnamon for a not-too-sweet but oh-so-rich taste that will be sure to help cure those winter blahs.
This launch is only the beginning of what Whataburger promises to be an exciting anniversary year filled with returning menu items—and we can’t wait to see what else is in store.
