Whataburger Is Finally Bringing This Fan-Loved Menu Item Back After 3 Years

There’s nothing worse than getting struck with a craving for a particular food only to find out it’s been discontinued. We’ve all been there and the heartbreak is real.

However, that doesn’t always mean they are gone for good. Take McDonald’s bringing back its Snack Wrap and KFC re-releasing its beloved potato wedges, for example. Many fast food chains hear their fans’ pleas to bring back discontinued favorites—and that includes Whataburger.

Earlier this year, the Texas-based chain welcomed back its Monterey Melt and Chicken Fajita Taco after fans begged for their return. And now, there’s another menu comeback in the works.

Whataburger Is Bringing Back the Mushroom Swiss Burger

For Whataburger fans, three years without the popular Mushroom Swiss Burger was too long. In fact, devoted customers expressed their frustrations by creating a Change.org petition to get the burger back on the menu. The petition amassed over 7,200 signatures total with comments like “I NEEEED this back in my life now,” and “I miss that burger it was a 10 out of 10.”

Now those pleas have finally been answered, even if only for a limited time. The burger joint is celebrating its 75th anniversary by adding the Mushroom Swiss Burger back to Whataburger menus once more.

So what’s with all the hype about this burger, anyways? Those who have tried it before know it has everything to do with the all-beef patties grilled to perfection and melty Swiss cheese on top. Of course, the super creamy au jus sauce and all those grilled mushrooms stacked on a toasted bun don’t hurt, either.

Starting April 1, you can enjoy this burger all over again by heading to your local Whataburger restaurant or drive-thru, or opting for pickup and delivery through the Whataburger app. But you only have until June 2 to devour it. Once that date comes along, the Mushroom Swiss Burger will once again be the stuff of legends—and petitions.
