What to Expect From Apple in 2025
This is the year Apple shows us the next phase of Vision Pro, Apple Intelligence and HomePod speakers (with screens?) CNET’s Bridget Carey highlights the biggest products we’re expecting from Apple in 2025.
Get ready for 2025 to be an interesting Apple year. There’s buzz of super slim iPhones, new HomePods, and TV products, and even a new Vision Pro. It’s hard to top last year because 2024 marked the launch of Apple’s first headset and Apple intelligence. But 2025, that is when Apple’s gonna show us the next phase of AI and how it comes together with future hardware. So let’s go over what we’re expecting to be the most interesting Apple products to come in the year ahead. I’m Bridget Carey, and this is one more thing. There’s been an iPhone Mini, and you’ve seen the iPhone Max, but a whole new size of iPhone is said to be coming this year. iPhone Slim. Multiple rumors and reports say Apple’s next addition to the iPhone lineup would be the thinnest iPhone yet. It could be a year for thinner phones beyond just Apple, because Samsung is even rumored to be developing a thinner Galaxy S25. But with the iPhone Slim, Apple might be stepping away from the iPhone Plus. You see, Apple analyst Ming Qi Kuo has been pretty Reliable with his reports, and he’s suggesting that the plus could be phased out for the slim as another way to get people interested in non-pro iPhones. But if the camera is not as good as a pro as some are expecting, will people get excited enough over just the thickness of an iPhone? And could it even be more expensive because it is so thin? Maybe Apple will call it a fancy name, so it’s gonna sound like it’s worth more than a pro. iPhone Air, perhaps. But the cheap iPhone SE may also get a new look, and it might have the first Apple modem. We are expecting to see a 4th generation of Apple’s entry level iPhone, and sadly, that means the end of the Touch ID home button. Say your goodbyes now because it doesn’t look likely that a version with a button is going to stick around. And the next SE is said to come with Apple’s own modem, so Apple wouldn’t have to rely on Qualcomm. And according to Bloomberg, this could all launch in the spring. Now, what about a full iPhone. Well, that’s not coming this year, buddy. Apple’s intelligence next evolution will be to get personal help from Siri by incorporating context into its responses to understand what’s on your screen or in your email or your text messages to answer your questions. And when Siri is smarter on our phones and tablets and Macs, it’s gonna be time to talk about the next stage for a HomePod speakers. According to analyst Kuo, Apple is working on a HomePod with a smart home display. And the launch could be in the second half of 2025. He says it would arrive with an Apple A18 processor. That’s just like the current iPhone 16, which means it would support Apple Intelligence. So eventually there’s not going to be two levels of Siri. The smarter one from the phone will eventually be in future speakers. And meanwhile, we are also expecting a new Apple TV with these new home products. That’s all according to Bloomberg. There’s a new wireless chip that’s expected to roll out to things like. A future HomePod Mini and it could potentially synchronize data faster. Apple’s vision for the next Vision Pro is a bit hazy. You see, Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that it is an early adopter product, but could the headset get a chip refresh at the very least this year? Analysts thinks so. He says Apple plans to give it the next chip, probably called the M5, since the Vision Pro right now has the M2. That would give the Vision Pro. Apple Intelligence reports do say that Apple is working on a cheaper Vision Pro that would have a lower grade experience, but we shouldn’t expect it this year. There’s also anticipation for an update to air tags. Reporting from Bloomberg says these are already in testing and may arrive in the middle of 2025. A potential air tags too could mean trackers that have better tracking precision, better battery life, and better features to prevent stalking. Of course there are other that you can expect from Apple, such as updates to iPads and Apple watches, and folks are waiting for other Mac computers to get ship upgrades.
