War of the Rohirrim’s Soundtrack Is Getting a Gorgeous Vinyl

We’re just a week away from a return to Peter Jackson’s vision of Middle-earth when Kenji Kamiyama’s War of the Rohirrim hits theaters—a return that wouldn’t be complete without the evocative melodies Howard Shore used to define those movies two decades ago. Now, with Stephen Gallagher taking the reigns as composer for the new movie, all this music, new and old, needs a soundtrack worthy of mustering the Rohirrim to—and Mutant is ready to provide.

io9 has your first look at the CD and vinyl soundtrack releases for War of the Rohirrim, now available for pre-order. Both the CD ($20) and the vinyl ($60) releases—the former coming on two CDs, the latter spread across three records–come with a booklet of liner notes from Kamiyama and Gallagher, as well as producer Phillipa Boyens.
