The U.S. Food & Drug Administration just announced a recall on broccoli florets sold at Walmart locations in 20 states. This is due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The ready-to-eat 12-ounce bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets were sold in the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The recalled broccoli has a UPC of “6 81131 32884 5” and lot code “BFFG327A6” printed on the package. While it has a past-due best-by date of December 10, 2024, the broccoli may still be in consumers’ freezers.
Check your freezer and if you have the recalled produce on hand, dispose of it or return to your local Walmart for a refund. There are no illnesses connected to this recall, but Listeria infection (also called listeriosis) can be serious for those who are age 65 or older, immunocompromised, pregnant or young children. Common symptoms of listeriosis include fever, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches and diarrhea. If you are experiencing these signs, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
For questions about this recall, contact the brand by calling 877-456-7445, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST or emailing WeCare@bragafresh.com.
