The highly anticipated title fight rematch between defending lightweight champ Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan is all set to take place this weekend as the headline act at UFC 311 in Inglewood, California, despite the ongoing wildfire crisis in Los Angeles.
The event was confirmed as remaining on track to go ahead at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood by UFC CEO Dana White in an update on Wednesday afternoon.
The card is headlined by Makhachev and Tsarukyan’s second showdown, following the pair’s first encounter in 2019 on a Fight Night bill in St. Petersburg, Russia. That fight saw Makhachev claim a competitive decision victory against the then rookie Tsarukyan, who had been making his UFC debut at the age of 22.
Both fighters have gone from strength to strength since that meeting, with Makhachev claiming the UFC lightweight title and successfully defending the belt three times, while Tsarukyan is currently 9-1 since his earlier defeat to Makhachev.

How to watch UFC 311 in the US
The UFC has a long-running partnership with ESPN. That’s great news for the UFC and the expansion of the sport of MMA, but it’s bad news for the consumer choice of US UFC fans.
In the US, if you want to watch UFC 311, you’ll find the fight night only on pay-per-view through ESPN Plus. The cost structure is a bit confusing, but here are the options to watch UFC on ESPN, according to ESPN’s site:

How to watch UFC 311 in the UK
MMA fans in the UK can watch all the action from New York via TNT Sports and the surprisingly good news is that, unlike some UFC events on the network, this event won’t be PPV. Coverage gets underway on TNT Sports 2 with the prelims at 1 a.m. GMT in the early hours of Sunday morning.
