It’s almost 2025, which is a little scary, if you ask me. My younger 10-year-old self would have been mind-boggled by the sheer thought of a year this far into the future, and I also think she’d be in shock that I’d be sitting here prioritizing food storage solutions above all else.
It’s true, I’ve long been tired of wasting money by throwing food away. But luckily, I have found an incredible solution that’s just as simple as it is inexpensive in the long run: a wire basket. I couldn’t go without them in my kitchen, whether I’m storing onions, garlic, shallots, or potatoes. They provide the perfect breathable environment those essential ingredients need to thrive. I’ve owned lots of different shapes and sizes, but this year, I am upgrading to this stackable option, now 73 percent off at Walmart. If you want to make 2025 a good year and cut down on food (and money) waste like I do, you’d best add this now-$30 set to your cart, too.
Tinana 2-Piece Stackable Wire Storage Basket Set
These baskets were born for pantry storage. The identical baskets each measures roughly 9 x 9 x 8 inches and is made with food-grade wire. There’s a tall back, but the front has a nice opening on the front that makes it easy to grab any ingredient you need.
The baskets also have ribbed bamboo top, which makes these baskets so much more versatile. You can stack both baskets on top of one another, or, if you’re putting it in a cabinet like I am, you can store other ingredients on top without wasting vertical space. I’d likely use one for alliums (like onions, shallots, and garlic), since they can be stored together. Alliums do need to be stored by themselves to prevent their gasses from spoiling other foods. The other basket can be used for potatoes in bulk, though I’d also consider using them for snacks, fruit, pantry ingredients, and more. The options are really up to you.
Walmart shoppers are raving about the set, noting that it has helped save so much space, streamlining their pantry no matter what they’ve put in it. Shoppers are also using the baskets for produce, jars, cans, and dry ingredients like flour, grains, and more.
I personally think they’re a brilliant buy if you have the space to allow it. Usually $100 for the duo, the baskets are now on sale for just $15 apiece at Walmart. Whatever you choose to store in them, your 2025 kitchen will be better off than before.
