Don’t Look

During a recent interview with THR, Janelle Monae revealed she’s working on a horror film about Medusa called Don’t Look at Universal. Akela Cooper is attached to write, in some capacity.

I have my own TV and film company, Wondaland Pictures, and we are looking to have more conversations and partner with folks whose taste aligns with ours and with mine. Halloween gives me so many original IP ideas for horror films, psychological thrillers, science fiction, sci-fi worlds. I have a film that I’m developing with Universal and Akela Cooper, who’s a fantastic writer. It’s based on the Medusa story and it’s called Don’t Look. I’m so excited about that. It’s going to be a horror film that, again, is a play on the Greek Medusa story. I have other original ideas. I’ve been developing characters with my SFX team for albums, for movies. I cannot wait until the moment comes where we have a script and we’re ready to shoot it.

In Vitro

Deadline also has word Talia Zucker, Will Howarth and Ashley Zukerman are attached to star in In Vitro, an Australian horror movie directed by Tom McKeith and Howarth, himself. The story is said to be set “in a future where ecological disasters have ravaged the agricultural industry” and focus on “Layla and her husband Jack” who “live in isolation on their struggling cattle farm. While Layla longs for her son who is away at boarding school, Jack experiments with biotechnology that he hopes will save his family from financial ruin. But as unsettling occurrences start to plague the property, their once loving relationship begins to unravel.”

Hot Frosty

A hunky snow sculpture is brought to life in the trailer as Jack Frost for Netflix’s Hot Frosty, starring Lacy Chabert and Dustin Milligan.

Ghost Cat Anzu

A monk asks his ghost cat to babysit his 11-year old daughter in the trailer for Ghost Cat Anzu, coming to select US theaters this November 15.

The Witcher

According to a statement released to The Radio Times, Kim Bodnia “will not return as Vesemir as his current shooting diary didn’t fit in with Netflix’s shooting schedule” in the fourth season of The Witcher. As the outlet notes, there’s no word yet on who will step up to replace Bodnia, but the role is expected to be recast.”

Star Trek: Lower Decks

During a recent interview with TV Line, creator Mike McMahan promised the series’ finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks “will make a lot of people tear up.”

I know this is going to sound ridiculous…but the finale will make a lot of people tear up. But at the same time, the finale is bonkers. We end with them in a different place, but there are no betrayals, nobody’s going to feel like we pulled the rug out from under them. You’re going to be really happy, I think, at the end of it.

Grotesquerie

Finally, FX has released a trailer for the season finale of Grotesquerie.
