The USDA Just Announced a Recall of Quaker’s Pearl Milling Pancake Mix in 11 States

On Jan. 15, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USDA) announced that the Quaker Oats Company has issued a limited recall of its Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix due to an undeclared allergen.

The recall comes after a retail partner alerted the company that the mix may contain undeclared milk. According to the USDA, “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.” No reactions have been reported by consumers to date.

How to Identify the Recalled Pearl Milling Pancake & Waffle Mix

The recalled Pearl Milling brand pancake and waffle mix was available for purchase as early as Nov. 18, 2024, and has a “Best By” date of Sept. 13, 2025. It was distributed to retailers in 11 states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, and Wisconsin.

The recalled Quaker product is listed as “Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix” and comes in 2-pound (32-ounce) cardboard boxes. Additionally, the recalled product features the following information that can be found on the top panel of the box:

• UPC: 30000 65040
• Code Date & Manufacturing Code: BBD SEP 13 25 P

Quaker urges consumers with a milk allergy or sensitivity not to consume the product and to discard it immediately.
