The TV Shows We Can’t Wait to See in 2025

Estimated read time 10 min read

With last year’s TV shows in our rearview mirror — and perhaps still on our minds — 2025 is positioned to keep us entertained with a bevy of new debuts and returning series (some of which have been absent from our screens for a long time). Marvel’s slate is packed with film and TV this year, while HBO is granting us fresh seasons of favorites like The Last of Us and The White Lotus.

Netflix has had us in a holding pattern for Stranger Things 5 and Wednesday, but it’s not the only one with titles that have left us thinking, “So, what’s up with the next season?” Here’s to hoping P-Valley hits Starz by the summer and that we get release updates for season 2 of Poker Face and the next installment of Interview With the Vampire. And for anime fans, remember more Dandadan and My Hero Academia are on the way.

Despite some TV shows that lack solid premiere dates, it’s not too early to start marking your calendar and shoring up your watch lists for this year. Here’s a look at which titles have us excited for what’s on TV in 2025.

Netflix

Netflix

All we know is that Stranger Things 5 is coming, as the series’ final season after a nearly 10-year run. Vecna isn’t gone yet, and the Hawkins kids are in for more life-and-death circumstances that are sure to have us distraught. For hints, check out the episode titles — including a finale called The Rightside Up.

Cobra Kai (Feb. 13)

Netflix’s hit Karate Kid sequel series will end with the third and final batch of season 6 episodes. After the chaotic brawl at the Sekai Taikai competition in Part 2, the future hangs in the balance for Daniel LaRusso, Johnny Lawrence and their students. Can they put all this violence behind them to defeat John Kreese once and for all?

Zero Day (Feb. 20)

Robert De Niro hits the small screen, starring as a former president who investigates a deadly nationwide cyberattack.

The Residence (March 20)

Shonda Rhimes takes the murder mystery genre for a spin in Netflix’s new upstairs-downstairs comedy, inspired by Kate Anderson Brower’s book. The show follows the twisty investigation of a murder that transpired inside the White House. Uzo Aduba and Randall Park lead a stacked ensemble cast.

Squid Game 3

Squid Game 2 just premiered, but Netflix will present an invitation to season 3 — the final installment — sometime in 2025. It’ll pick up after a cliff-hanger ending and bring a conclusion to the Korean series.

You, season 5

Penn Badgley is back as the violently romantic Joe Goldberg in the fifth and final season of the celebrated thriller based on the novels by Caroline Kepnes. After an event-filled trip to Europe, Joe has returned to New York, and the demons from his past aren’t far behind.

Alice in Borderland

It’s the third entry in the dark Japanese survival thriller series that saw characters transported to a brutal alternate reality with deadly games.

Black Rabbit

Jason Bateman and Jude Law star as estranged brothers in this Netflix thriller. Bateman and Ozark co-star Laura Linney share directing duties on the series.

Black Mirror, season 7

Charlie Booker said during Netflix’s 2024 Geeked Week event that the new season of Netflix’s hit sci-fi anthology series will be “a bit OG Black Mirror.” The six-episode installment will include a sequel to season 4’s USS Callister episode and feature a solid cast, including names like Paul Giamatti, Emma Corrin, Cristin Milioti, Issa Rae and Peter Capaldi.

Devil May Cry (April 2025)

This anime adaptation of the popular video game franchise is on the way, but we’ll let the trailer speak for itself.

Disney Plus

Disney

Daredevil: Born Again (March 5)

Marvel’s revival of the series is bringing back stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk and Jon Bernthal as Punisher/Frank Castle. As a fan of the Netflix show, I can’t wait to see how dark and gruesome things get in Hell’s Kitchen. The trailer gave us a good taste, so make sure your Disney Plus subscription is active in March.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Jan. 29)

After the animated good time that was X-Men ’97, Marvel’s animation team will introduce Peter Parker through his early aughts in the comics. Catch the young Spidey as he swings around the city.

Andor, season 2 (April 22)

The second and final season of the Star Wars: Rogue One prequel series follows Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor on his reluctant journey to join the Rebel Alliance and take the fight to the Galactic Empire.

Ironheart (June 24)

The character Riri Williams — aka Ironheart — made her MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and her live-action series will follow the inventor in her Chicago hometown. Will she stick to her goals or get distracted and caught up in something that goes against who she is?

Marvel Zombies (Halloween)

Remember that zombie-fied episode of What If…? Well, we’re getting more. Due out for spooky season, Marvel Zombies sees some of your favorite superheroes turned into the walking dead by a virus. Survivors try to best them and the virus in this series, which features Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Dominique Thorne as Ironheart and Florence Pugh as Yelena.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Tune in to see Percy and his friends at Camp Half Blood dive into the Sea of Monsters in the new season set to be released this year. Newcomers include Percy’s half-brother Tyson, a Cyclops; Tamara Smart as Zeus’ daughter, Thalia Grace; and Andra Day as goddess Athena.

Wonder Man (Dec. 2025)

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams (Wonder Man) in the series about a stuntman with superpowers who plays a superhero on screen. Ben Kingsley also features in the Marvel show, which drops in December.

Sky/Now TV

Parisa Taghizadeh

The official adaptation of Nick Cave’s stunning novel, starring Ray Winstone, was first announced almost 20 years ago. Though that movie ultimately fell through, The Death of Bunny Munro is now reborn as a limited series, and I’m actually more excited by the prospect of this one. Starring House of the Dragon’s Matt Smith, and by the writer of the John Lennon origin story Nowhere Boy, the show looks set to continue the run that UK’s Sky began with The Day of the Jackal. The story follows the titular Bunny Munro, an alcoholic and womanizer, and his young son as they try to navigate life after the mother’s untimely death. The book is twisty and turny, and I think that Matt Smith has the charisma to pull off the magnetic yet self-deluded “ladies’ man.” The show is set to debut on Sky later in the year, and I expect this one to appear — as Jackal did — on Peacock.

Hulu/ABC

Hulu

What was in that review? Hungry minds want to know, and The Bear should answer that question when season 4 airs this year. Chef Carmy is committed to making the restaurant a three-star Michelin-rated establishment, but will it come at the expense of his professional and personal relationships? We will see.

Paradise (Jan. 28)

Sterling K. Brown reunites with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman on Hulu’s new crime thriller, which follows a secret service agent stuck in the middle of a murder investigation of the highest order.

The Handmaid’s Tale (spring 2025)

It’s the last entry in the dystopian show that premiered back in 2017 and starred Elisabeth Moss as a woman forced to be a reproductive surrogate.

Alien: Earth (summer 2025)

Noah Hawley’s buzzy Alien prequel series takes place before Ripley faced off against that pesky Xenomorph aboard the Nostromo in the 1979 movie. As the name of the horror series suggests, it’ll take place on Earth instead of in outer space.

HBO/Max

Fabio Lovino/HBO

The hit satirical series from Mike White gets a third season, set in Thailand. Natasha Rothwell, who played spa manager Belinda in season 1, reprises her role.

The Last of Us, season 2 (April)

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay return as Joel and Ellie in the second season of HBO’s hit video game adaptation. The season 1 finale found Joel eliminating the Fireflies to save Ellie, and lying to her about it. How will this violent act impact their journey to cure the Cordyceps brain infection?

The Righteous Gemstones, season 4

Danny McBride’s celebrated comedy is returning for more Gemstone hijinks, which is wonderful news considering the series finale vibes that permeated the end of season 3.

Peacemaker 2 (August)

James Gunn’s DC series will find John Cena suiting up once more as the helmeted antihero. Amanda Waller’s Task Force X was revealed to the world as an illegal operation in the closing moments of the season 1 finale. How will the ramifications of this announcement be felt in the second installment?

Hacks 4

The legendary comedian Deborah and talented younger writer Ava return for a fourth season, following a finale filled with backstabbing.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Set 100 years before Game of Thrones, this spin-off follows young knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg.

Welcome to Derry

The It prequel series takes audiences deep into Derry, Maine, and turns the clock back to the 1960s, well before the events of the first movie, to explore the origin story of Pennywise the Clown. Tune in for season 1’s nine episodes later this year.

Duster

Lost alum Josh Holloway stars as a crime syndicate’s getaway driver in this new ’70s crime drama from J.J. Abrams.

Prime Video

Amazon Studios

The third season of Prime Video’s hit action-packed drama takes inspiration from Lee Childs’ book Persuader and finds Jack Reacher facing more demons from his past to deliver a fistful of justice.

Invincible, season 3 (Feb. 6)

Steven Yeun returns to voice Mark Grayson (aka Invincible) in the third season of Robert Kirkman’s hit animated series. The season finds the titular hero grappling with his violent choices from season 2, which made him question just how much like his murderous father he is. Moreover, can he keep humanity safe from his Viltrumite oppressors, or will he bow to their demands to conquer Earth himself? Check out the trailer for a few hints.

Gen V, season 2

The Boys’ bloody universe expanded with Gen V, a series starring a younger cast of superheroes, and it’s returning for season 2 this year.

Criminal

Prime Video is bringing Ed Brubaker’s Eisner-winning comic book to life. The series takes place in a world that explores the lives of low-level thieves and other lawbreakers and is set to disrupt the narrative expectations that come with the crime drama genre.

The Summer I Turned Pretty 3

Spend more time with teens Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah in season 3 of the sun-soaked coming-of-age series.

Apple TV Plus

Apple TV Plus

Lumon Industries’ Macrodata Refinement team is back after breaching the severance barrier. Needless to say, their search for answers in Apple TV Plus’ hit sci-fi thriller is about to get much weirder.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator and co-star Charlie Day joins the cast of Rob McElhenney’s video game comedy for its fourth season.

Dope Thief (March 14)

Your Friends and Neighbors (April 11)

Jon Hamm stars as a hedge fund manager who starts stealing from his rich neighbors after getting fired.

Paramount Plus/Paramount Network/Showtime

Lo Smith/Paramount Plus

The Taylor Sheridan TV offerings continue with season 2 of this Yellowstone prequel series that follows earlier generations of the Dutton family.

Yellowjackets, season 3 (Feb. 14)

It’s season 3 of the show that chronicles teen plane crash survivors’ transformative time in the wilderness and their adult selves still grappling with it.

Dexter: Resurrection (summer 2025)

Michael C. Hall reprises his role as everyone’s favorite sociopathic vigilante in the upcoming sequel series. The show is said to pick up where Dexter: New Blood left off — with Dexter Morgan left for dead in the snow.
