Jeffrey Wright is joining the cast of The Last of Us Season 2, and he will reprise his role from the game series. Wright played the role of Isaac Dixon in The Last of Us: Part II, and he’s signed on to play the same part in the second season of the show.

Wright is not the only actor from the game series to reprise their roles on the TV show. Merle Dandridge, who played Marlene in the game, came back in the same role for Season 1. Actor Jeffrey Pierce played Tommy Miller in the game series, but came back to portray the mercenary Perry (Gabriel Luna plays Tommy on the TV show). Troy Baker, who played Joel in games, appeared in an episode of Season 1 as James, while Ellie actress Ashley Johnson was cast as Ellie’s mother on the show.

Wright is known for his starring role on HBO’s Westworld and for playing Commissioner Gordon in The Batman. He earned an Academy Award nomination for his leading role in American Fiction.

The Last of Us Season 2 will cover at least some of the events of The Last of Us: Part II, and that means there is a lot of heavy drama to come. Season 2 adds Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return to play their characters, Joel and Ellie, respectively.

Filming is now underway for The Last of Us Season 2 ahead of its 2025 debut, and lots of footage has leaked from the set. Hopes are high for the second season, as the first was praised by critics and reached massive viewership numbers.

As for the game series, developer Naughty Dog has said it might make The Last of Us: Part III. The studio has multiple games in the works currently, and one of them could “redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming,” according to Neil Druckmann. Druckmann also recently said he’s very excited for how AI could shake up game development.
