The First Omen Trailer Births Some Frightful Sights

Estimated read time 2 min read

The new trailer for The First Omen says “you don’t have to be afraid,” but the screaming heard suggests otherwise. The prequel to the 1976 classic comes out in roughly under a month to theaters on April 5.

The video–seen below–focuses on two young women: Margaret (Nell Tiger Free), an American in Rome working at an orphanage, and Carlita (Nicole Sorace), who apparently “suffers from a touch of madness.” At least, those are the words of Sister Silvia, portrayed by Shotgun Wedding actress Sonia Braga. Margaret is trying to look after Carlita, but it seems everyone is warning her of the dangers of doing so.

That’s because Carlita appears to be the eventual mother of Damien, the antichrist and subject of The Omen. “You must be very careful, Margaret,” says Father Brennan (Ralph Ineson) in The First Omen trailer. “Bad things will start to happen around her.” Let’s just say that word of caution becomes a fast reality in the teaser video, which obviously negatively affects Margaret as she learns more about the church’s plans for Carlita.

Earlier this year, the teaser for The First Omen warned that something evil was coming. The horror movie is directed and co-written by Arkasha Stevenson. Tim Smith and Keith Thomas also helped pen the script. Other cast members include Bill Nighy and Tawfeek Barhom.

The First Omen is one of GameSpot’s 16 horror films we can’t wait to see in 2024.
