The Dark Tower Book Box Set And Graphic Novel Omnibuses Are B2G1 Free At Amazon

Estimated read time 6 min read

There’s no shortage of deals on Stephen King novels and film adaptations at Amazon for Prime Big Deal Days, but the best Stephen King deal in terms of pure monetary savings is undoubtedly The Dark Tower Graphic Novel Omnibus Editions. Published by Gallery 13 in 2023, the trio of full-color hardcover omnibuses carry $100 list prices, but Amazon has them marked down to $55-$58 each. Better yet, all three Dark Tower omnibuses are eligible for Amazon’s buy two, get one free books sale. After adding The Dark Tower: Beginnings Omnibus, The Gunslinger Omnibus, and The Drawing of the Three Omnibus to your cart, you will see the price drop down to $114. That’s quite the deal for three weighty, well-made books that sold for a total of $300 just one year ago.

Important note on getting this deal: At the time of writing, Amazon’s store page for The Gunslinger Omnibus defaulted to a third-party seller’s listing. To get the B2G1 free deal, you need to click “Other sellers on Amazon” and add the book to your cart from the listing that is shipped and sold by Amazon. You will see the words: “Savings: Get 3 for the price of 2.”

If you are new to dark fantasy series or want a fresh set of King’s original novels, The Dark Tower 8-Book Collection is also eligible for buy two, get one free. Only need a few books in the series to complete your set? Six of the eight novels are eligible for B2G1 free, including a handsome hardcover edition of the first book, The Gunslinger. We’ve listed all eight books below the box set, but just be aware that The Waste Lands (Book 3) and The Wind Through the Keyhole (Book 4.5) aren’t included in the sale.

The Dark Tower: The “Complete” Graphic Novel Saga

Stephen King's The Dark Tower: The Complete Graphic Novel Series.
Stephen King’s The Dark Tower: The Complete Graphic Novel Series.

Most of Stephen King’s 65-plus novels are standalone works, though he has written a few series, with The Dark Tower being the longest by a significant margin. The eight-novel, 4,000-plus page tale was published over the course of 30 years. In 2007, Marvel began adapting The Dark Tower into comic books. Although King himself didn’t write the comics, he served as the creative supervisor on the project.

But it’s important to acknowledge that Marvel canceled the ambitious adaptation before it could reach its proper conclusion. Thus, The Complete Graphic Novel Saga is both correct and incorrect. If you read all three omnibuses, you will have read everything that’s available, but you need to read King’s novels to get the full story.

If you’re unfamiliar with King’s opus, here’s a quick breakdown: The series features a compelling mix of high fantasy, science fiction, and horror. But at its most basic premise, The Dark Tower is a traditional hero’s journey. Set in the post-apocalyptic Mid-World, the story follows Roland Deschain’s quest for the eponymous tower and the Man in Black, a powerful dark sorcerer. The novels often jump across time periods and different worlds, but the graphic novels, for the most part, are more linear, which gives them a more intimate reading experience.

The massive 800-page The Dark Tower: Beginnings Omnibus may be of particular note for long-time fans of the series. Essentially a prequel, this hardcover omnibus contains five graphic novels chronicling Roland Deschain of Gilead’s coming-of-age story that led to him becoming the last gunslinger. It covers and expands upon Roland’s backstory as alluded to in flashbacks and conversations throughout the series.

The other two omnibuses–The Gunslinger (736 pages) and The Drawing of the Three (464 pages)–are named after the first two books in the series. While they cover the same major plot points as their novel counterparts, the comics also cover new ground that many fans would find interesting, even if you recently read the novels themselves. All three hardcover volumes contain gorgeous artwork drawn by a team of illustrators.

More Stephen King B2G1 Free Box Sets, Hardcover Novels, and Graphic Novels

If you want all three omnibuses and the novel box set, you’ll need two other books to cash in on a second B2G1 free. I dug through the many Stephen King book listings on Amazon and found several notable hardcovers and box sets that get you the most bang for your buck when paired with these pricier King books. Several all-time classic King novels in hardcover are eligible: The Shining, ‘Salem’s Lot, It, and Pet Sematary.

You should also check out Sleeping Beauties: Deluxe Remastered Edition, the recently released omnibus of the graphic novel version of the novel King co-wrote with his son Owen King.

In terms of box sets, a slipcased hardcover box set of the Bill Hodges Trilogy is included in the promotion. It’s a great supernatural mystery series filled with memorable characters. Mr. Mercedes, the first novel in the trilogy, introduced readers to Holly Gibney, who quickly became one of King’s personal favorite characters. She appeared in both sequels as well as the novel The Outsider, a novella in the story collection If It Bleeds, and as the main character in King’s most recent novel, which is simply titled Holly.

Even More B2G1 Free Stephen King Novels and Short Story Collections

While I was searching for the pricier Stephen King box sets and hardcovers, I kept track of every Stephen King book in Amazon’s B2G1 free promotion. Just be aware that Amazon often removes and adds books to these promotions throughout the week, so we can’t guarantee that everything on the list below will remain eligible until the sale ends on October 12. But after combing through King’s complete bibliography of novels, short story collections, and nonfiction–all horror fans should read King’s Danse Macabre–here’s the full list (excluding the books listed above).

Books marked as “Paperback” are trade paperbacks, whereas books noted as “MMPB” are the compact, checkout line at the grocery store sort (mass market paperbacks).
