This year’s NFL season kicked off when the Baltimore Ravens traveled to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to face the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s almost just as important to note that the fans who are in Kansas City to watch the season opener paid around $16 for a beer and a hot dog, which is the 15th most expensive combo in the entire league.
Sports analysis site Sportscasting.com recently put together a list of what one beer and one dog will cost at all 32 NFL stadiums this season, and it’s…not great news for Seahawks fans.
According to the data, the average cost of that particular combo is $15.02 across every stadium. The most expensive beer-and-dog combination is at Seattle’s Lumen Field, where it will cost $19.98. By contrast, the least expensive brew-and-dog meal is at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the Falcons, where it’s just $7.49. (And that’s largely because of Atlanta’s $2 hot dogs.) Here are some other takeaways:
The three most expensive combos are on the West Coast
The two teams in Los Angeles, the Rams and the Chargers, both play their home games at SoFi Stadium, where a beer and a hot dog costs $19.49. That is followed by the Chicago Bears’ home, Soldier Field, which charges $19, and the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where it’ll run Saints fans $18.99.
Only two stadiums are under $10
Other than Mercedez Benz Stadium, Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is the only other place you can get a beer and a hot dog for less than $10. (At $9.98, it slides right under the wire in Miami.) The next most affordable stadiums are Houston’s NRG Stadium ($11.75), Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium ($11.93), and Detroit’s Ford Field ($11.98).
There’s a big difference between the most and least expensive beers
The most expensive “basic” beers are found in New Orleans and San Francisco, where both stadium’s cheapest brews still cost $12. Nine other teams charge between $11 and $11.99 for one beer. The least expensive beers are in Atlanta, Detroit, Miami, and at the New York Jets’ MetLife Stadium, where the bargain brews are $5.49 each.
Baseball fans have it marginally better
The average cost of a beer at the 30 Major League Baseball stadiums is $6.98. The cheapest brews this season were at Denver’s Coors Field ($3.00), Toronto’s Rogers Center ($4.44), and Anaheim’s Angel Stadium ($4.50), while both Chase Field in Phoenix and Minneapolis’s Target Field both have $4.99 beers. The most expensive suds are at Nationals Stadium in Washington, D.C., where one brew costs an eye-watering $14.99. Meanwhile, the average cost of a hot dog at MLB stadiums was $5.32, compared with $6.37 in the NFL.
Watching the game at home with a six-pack and a few ‘dogs on the grill doesn’t sound too bad after all.
