The 400-page book covers 85 years of Superman’s history in radio, TV, film, animation, computer games, PSAs, advertising, merchandise, and, of course, comic books. It has a treasure trove of unpublished artwork, exclusive interviews, unique bonus inserts, and little-known facts, covering the complete history of Superman in detail. There are also pull-out cards, posters, mini-books, and other interactive elements included in the book.

Superman: The Definitive History is just one of the many new Superman-related releases coming soon. Highlights include Absolute editions ofAll-Star Superman, Superman: For All Seasons, and the legendary Superman run by Gary Frank and Geoff Johns.

These are three of the best Superman comic runs of all time. All-Star Superman in particular is still considered to be the definitive take on the character and is essential reading before the character returns to the big screen next year. The 12-issue series is a trippy tale about Superman’s final adventures written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely. The Absolute Superman featuring the talents of the aforementioned Frank and Johns is a compilation of the duo’s legendary Superman trilogy, collecting the complete Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes, Superman: Brainiac, and Superman: Secret Origin, together for the first time. Lastly, Superman: For All Seasons explores a young Clark Kent life in the months leading up to becoming Superman. It’s often cited as the creative spark behind the Smallville TV series. All three releases are part of DC’s Absolute line of oversized hardcover reprints of fan-favorite stories, letting readers soak up the beautiful art and writing. Each book includes bonus material like cover galleries, creator notes, and much more.
