Estimated read time 2 min read

While it’ll still be some time before Superman takes off on the big screen, fans of the DC Comics icon can grab a sneak peek of the Man of Steel as he prepares to save the day. Superman director James Gunn posted a picture of Superman and Clark Kent actor David Corenswet in his super-suit.

This one features some more modern touches when compared to the medieval-influenced design of the costume worn by Henry Cavill in his Synderverse appearances, and even features a higher neck collar that looks like it was ripped straight from the New 52 Superman costume. There are also some neat panels on the boots, subtle textures across the costume, and a very big S-shield symbol. And most importantly, a luxurious cape for when Superman takes flight.

Interestingly, the costume doesn’t have any muscle padding–this was a trademark feature of the Man of Steel suit designed by Michael Wilkinson–but Corenswet does look like he’s been hitting the gym for eight days a week to help fill out his costume. Superman will land in theaters on July 11, 2025, and also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Skylder Gisonda as Jimmy Olsen. The rest of the cast includes a number of famous names and faces in the DC Universe, including Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), and Maria Gabriela de Faria (Engineer).

Fillion, who has voiced Green Lantern Hal Jordan in DC Animated projects and has appeared in several of Gunn’s films, also spoke about his role in the film and how the idea of playing a Green Lantern who knows and embraces his flaws was a big draw for him.
