At long last, the Super Mario Bros. Movie steelbook edition is back in stock, as you can pick up a fresh 4K Blu-ray of the hit animated film at Walmart. This isn’t just the film in its highest-quality format either, as you’ll be getting the sought-after Power-Up Edition for $28. In addition to the movie and all of its extras, this package includes a charming steelbook with the iconic Super Mario Bros. Mushroom on the cover.
It’s a simple design, but very effective at grabbing your attention, and this edition will likely sell out quickly. If stock does run out, you can pick up the regular 4K Blu-ray for $20 instead at Amazon. Both versions of the film come with the same extras, like a number of behind-the-scenes featurettes, a field guide to The Super Mario Bros. universe, leadership lessons from Peach’s voice actor Anya Taylor-Joy, and a Peaches music video. Just like other UHD releases, you’ll also get a 1080p version of the film on a separate disc and a digital code to allow you to watch it on other devices.
With a surprisingly great performance from Chris Pratt as Mario, The Super Mario Bros. Movie sees Nintendo’s favorite plumber and his brother (voiced by Charlie Day) whisked away to the Mushroom Kingdom, where they join forces with Princess Peach to stop the mighty Bowser. “More than just another cartoon comedy, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a surprisingly great action flick,” Phil Owen wrote in GameSpot’s The Super Mario Bros. film review. “Both pretty funny and also just plain pretty–this movie is a feast for the eyes.”
