SunChips Recalled in Canada Due to Salmonella Contamination

There’s an active recall on SunChips products in Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). This was announced after a seasoning supplier notified the company that an ingredient was potentially contaminated with Salmonella.

The bags of chips affected by this recall include SunChips Multigrains Harvest Cheddar Snacks and Original Munchies Snack Mix flavors in all sizes. They were also sold in 32-pack and 40-pack snack boxes (both variety packs and flavor-specific boxes) across Canada displaying expiration dates ranging from “2024 JL 16” to “2024 AU 13.” Check your bags and snack boxes immediately for the recalled information, and if matching the above information, dispose of the impacted products. No other flavors of SunChips or Munchies are affected.

While there are no illnesses connected to this recall, Salmonella infection can be a serious sickness for young children, pregnant individuals, those age 65 or older and people with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms of Salmonella include fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea, so if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms after eating the recalled products, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
