Subway Releases an Oreo Cookie Footlong

If anyone deserves a sweet treat right now, it’s you. And luckily, Subway’s got just the thing. 

On Thursday, Subway announced that the brand-new addition to its footlong lineup is actually a cookie collaboration with Oreo. And it’s called — what else — the Oreo Footlong Cookie. 

“Subway worked closely with the Oreo cookie experts to create something that fans of both brands are going to love — the ideal blend of our popular double chocolate cookie with the delicious crunch of their signature cookie and creme filling,” Paul Fabre, the senior vice president, culinary and innovation at Subway, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “Oreo cookies capture our passion for quality ingredients and maximum flavor, making them the ideal partner for Subway’s first Footlong Cookie collaboration.”

The Connecticut-based sandwich chain noted that this cookie, like its Footlong Chocolate Chip, is served warm, giving it that perfect gooey center right when it is handed to you. As for more tasting notes, Subway noted that it’s “Inspired by the iconic sandwich cookie” and starts with Subway’s chocolate cookie dough as the base, with Oreo cookie pieces baked in. It’s then topped with “sweet vanilla cream and finished with even more Oreo cookie pieces.” 

Subway introduced its first limited run of the Footlong cookies back in 2022 when it sold them for a single day as part of a special promotion. But they were such a hit that the brand added them to the permanent menu a year later so everyone could enjoy them.

“The overwhelming response we received from fans around the country last year let us know that we needed to make the footlong cookie a permanent addition to our menu,” Paul Fabre, the senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway, shared in a statement at the time. “It’s the perfect pairing with your favorite footlong sub and may even become your favorite footlong after the first bite.” 

Subway noted that, yes, you can dunk this special Oreo Footlong just as you would the original version — so maybe just have an extra-tall glass of milk handy in case. But if you want to try it, you better act fast, as the Oreo Footlong Cookie will only be available nationwide for a limited time.
