It’s said that “no one mourns the wicked,” but we know we’d be pretty upset if the Ariana Grande- and Cynthia Erivo-led screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical, “Wicked,” wasn’t happening. And it’s not just because Broadway fans have been waiting for this movie for years—the highly anticipated new movie from Universal Pictures has already drummed up some great collaborations.
While we will absolutely be rushing to theaters to spend one short day in the Emerald City on Nov. 22, we don’t actually have to wait that long to celebrate the new movie’s release. We know, thank goodness.
Betty Crocker recently released color-changing baking mixes that reveal either Elphaba Green or Glinda Pink cakes when mixed. And Target had an exclusive “Wicked”-themed Stanley tumbler drop that was so pop-ular, the cups sold out in minutes.
If you couldn’t get your hands on the pink or green Stanleys at Target, there’s good news: You’ll have another chance to grab “Wicked”-themed drinkware at Starbucks. And along with an entire line of tumblers, mugs, and keychains, Starbucks is also rolling out two new “Wicked”-inspired drinks.
Starbucks Releases “Wicked” Drinks
Beginning Oct. 22, Starbucks is selling Glinda’s Pink Potion and Elphaba’s Cold Brew beverages for a limited time.
Glinda’s bright pink refresher starts with the Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refresher mixed with coconut milk, ice, and freeze-dried dragonfruit. It’s topped with a special non-dairy strawberry cold foam and pink sprinkles.
Elphie’s drink is a little more “unusually and exceedingly peculiar” as it starts with a peppermint-flavored cold brew that gets topped with a non-dairy matcha cold foam and green sprinkles. While Starbucks hasn’t announced its holiday menu just yet, Elphaba’s Cold Brew is your first taste of peppermint season.
Starbucks Releases “Wicked” Merch
The new drinks join the menu now, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer for the merchandise to arrive. Starting Nov. 7, Starbucks will sell five collections of “Wicked” merch: Glinda’s Collection, Elphaba’s Collection, the Emerald City Collection, a more generally-themed “Wicked” collection, and the “Wicked” Discovery Series Collection.
The first four collections all feature four items: two cold cups, a tumbler, and a keychain, each with designs based on their themes. Glinda’s Collection is bright and pink; Elphaba’s Collection has more muted green and black colors; the Emerald City Collection features bold green and gold; and finally, the general “Wicked” collection has a mixture of pink and green. The Discovery Series Collection mugs are similar to Starbucks’ city and state mugs, but for “Wicked”-specific locations, like Munchkinland, Emerald City, and Shiz University.
While Elphaba’s Collection, Glinda’s Collection, and the Emerald City Collection will be available at Starbucks stores nationwide, the general collection will be a Target Starbucks exclusive and the Discovery Series Collection will only be sold at Universal theme parks.
Starbucks’ new drinks will have us dancing through life—or, at least, dancing through the next few weeks as we wait for part one of “Wicked” to be released.
