After winning more awards at the recent DICE Awards than any other nominated game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s next update is just around the corner. Sony and Insomniac Games have announced the Version 1.002 update for the web-slinging adventure, and it will bring new modes, new suits, and more on March 7.
The main update within the Version 1.002 patch is the oft-requested New Game Plus mode. Spider-Man 2’s take on the mode–along with the standard progression carryover and enhanced difficulty–will also include “Ultimate Levels, Golden Gadget styles, and more,” according to the official PlayStation Blog post.
Version 1.002 will also give players two accessibility upgrades in Audio Descriptions and Screen Reader technology. A companion video shared by the dev team gives an example of how Spider-Man 2’s Audio Descriptions feature will work through Kraven The Hunter’s introductory scene.
Finally, the blog post details four new suits coming to the game, both through Version 1.002 and in a separate pack. First, both Peter and Miles will receive their suits from the recent Hellfire Gala comic event, with Miles specifically resembling the suit from the variant cover of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #8.
Each friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will also receive a new suit designed in collaboration with Gameheads, an Oakland-based firm which “uses video game design, development, and DevOps to engage, prepare and train low-income youth and youth of color” in the Bay Area. The Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack will cost $5–with all proceeds up to $1 million going to Gameheads–and include one suit each for Peter and Miles, along with 10 stickers and two frames for photo mode.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available now for PlayStation 5.
