Sonic Co-Creator Returns To Social Media To Point Finger At Dragon Quest Producer

Sonic co-creator and Balan Wonderworld director Yuji Naka has broken his social media silence to speak about Dragon Quest producer Yu Miyake.

Last week, Square Enix top producer Yu Miyake was reportedly stepping down due to multiple internal delays of Dragon Quest XII. Naka took to Twitter to accuse Miyake of lying during Naka’s own insider trading trial.

In a tweet (machine translated), Naka claims that Miyake lied in court documents and hopes that he’ll be gone from Square Enix soon. Along with the accusations, Naka seems to praise Square Enix’s new president Takashi Kiryu, even though they never met, who is shaking up the company’s development process to focus on fewer and higher-quality games.

GameSpot has reached out to Square Enix regarding Yuji Naka’s remarks.

Naka was arrested in 2022 on charges of insider trading regarding confidential information on the Dragon Quest Tact and Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier mobile games. He was then sentenced to two and half years in prison with fines totaling $1.2 million. However, he was also given a suspended sentence that allowed him to avoid jail time if he stayed out of trouble during a four-year probation period.
