The U.S. Food & Drug Administration just announced an active recall on a ShopRite store-brand soup product. This is due to an undeclared allergen.
The item impacted is the Bowl & Basket Onion Soup & Dip Mix packaged in 2-ounce cartons. The affected mix has a best by date of “SEP 27 25 E07” or “OCT 11 25 E09” and a UPC of 41190-08394. This recalled product may contain eggs, a common allergen not declared on the label.
The soup mix was distributed and sold in ShopRite locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and potentially other states. The company became aware of the mispackaging after a customer complaint. However, no illnesses have yet to be connected to this recall.
Those that consume this product that have a sensitivity or allergy to eggs may experience a reaction, even as severe as anaphylaxis. Signs of anaphylaxis include hives, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and in the most severe cases, tightness of the throat or cardiac arrest. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms after eating this product, call 911 immediately.
