My Rumpl blankets have been a constant companion for the six years Iâve had them. The Rumpl Original Puffy came with me on a road trip across four states and 10 national parks, two Big Sur camping trips, and more car camping excursions than I can count, and it’s been great to use next to the campfire or as an alternative sleeping bag. It’s also been handy in a pinch when I have overnight guests, especially since my San Francisco apartment had zero closetsâstuffing the Original Puffy back into its compact storage bag made it small enough to stash anywhere.
Thereâs a reason we here at WIRED have raved about the Rumpl Puffy Blanket for the past five years; several WIRED Gear team members have bought and used it on many trips since. (Reviews editor Julian Chokkattu just took his to the beach last week!) It’s not cheap, which is why it’s a big deal that Rumpl has the Original Puffy Blanket at 40 percent off from now through the end of July. Tons of colors and designs are on sale (except for artist collaborationsâif it says Rad Artist, it’s not on sale).

Original Puffy Blankets on Sale
The Rumpl OG Puffy has it all. It’s water- and stain-resistant and machine washable, includes corner loops to stake it into the ground, and it’s super packable with the included storage bag. It’s designed for one person, but my husband and I can both fit under it when we’re sitting on the couch together or on a log in front of a campfire. This Deepwater shade is one of the single-color shades, but I love that it has a bright trim that makes the edges of the blanket pop. It’s the cheapest of all the OG blankets during the sale event.
While the artist designs aren’t on sale, there are still plenty of cool styles that are. Notably, the fun range of fade designs, which ranges from general color combos to landscape-inspired fades. I love the mountain- and sunset-inspired ones the most. I’m partial to the Rocky Mountain Sunset Fade, since it’s one of the parks I visited on the road with my Rumpl blankets. I’ll never forget how gorgeous the sun is going down in that parkâit really does look like this blanket.
The OG Puffy’s polyester shell feels similar to a sleeping bag to the touch, and I treat it like an all-season comforterâI use it alone in the summers or with additional layers on colder camping trips. Even my cat likes it, which is actually bad because he can’t stop kneading it with his claws. (It’s still held up well though!) Zion’s one of my favorite places to campâI camped there once a year until I got pregnant, and now I can bring a Zion-style blanket to camp (or at home, pretending I’m back at Watchman Campground).
I want this print everywhere in my house. It reminds me of Pendleton’s geometric designs, but a little more fun with the twist of the grizzly bear faceâit’s polished enough for adults, but also a fun design to share with the kids. Honestly, I want it on my couch just as much as my campsite.
Love patchwork? Look no further than the Forest Cabin design, with its outdoors-inspired patchwork design, featuring mountains, bears, trees, and more. If you love patchwork so much that you want to wear it, you can! The Rumpl Original Puffy has a cape clip to wear the blanket around your shoulders hands-free. Perfect for holding your cup of cocoa next to the fire, or your coffee on a chilly morning.
