Resy might already be your go-to spot for making dinner reservations and securing seriously hard-to-get tables. But now, the company is hoping to be more than a reservation platform. It wants to be a destination where you get inspired on where to eat next, too, thanks to its new “Discover Tab.”
On Monday, Resy announced it added the new Discover Tab to its iOS app, giving its mobile users access to what it calls its “extensive” library of original editorial content. That includes “The Resy Hit List,” which showcases the best of the best places to eat in nearly 20 cities around both the U.S. and the world, along with original feature stories and interviews with renowned chefs and restauranteurs. While this content was always available on Resy’s blog, you can now access it all without ever having to exit the app.
“With so many amazing restaurant options, we wanted to create one central place where Resy users could discover new restaurants, unique dining experiences near them, and tips and tricks for snagging the most coveted reservations,” Elizabeth Vakil, Resy’s chief product officer, shared with Food & Wine.
Like the rest of the app, the new Discover Tab is geo-targeted, ensuring you’re getting the most relevant content for whatever city you’re in (be it at home or during your travels).
All users need to do is select the location they want to view on the top left corner of the app. From there, the Resy app surfaces restaurants in the area to choose from, along with all its new editorial content, which will be curated by Resy’s editors and updated every month in the company’s top trending U.S. cities.
According to a press release shared with Food & Wine, this content will also include intel on “can’t-miss dishes” and “tips for how to score tough tables.” Users can scroll through editorialized lists of spots to dine near them, including “Top Rated,” “New on Resy,” “Book Tonight,” “Critics’ Picks,” “James Beard Semifinalists,” and the “Michelin Star Club” restaurants.
“Resy’s ‘The One Who Keeps the Books’ column is a great way to uncover reservation ‘hacks’ from the people who run the books at in-demand restaurants,” Vakil added. “Every restaurant manages its tables a little differently so this is valuable, insider info, served up by Resy.”
To get all these new features, you just need to download the Resy app, open, discover, and book. Then, you can enjoy that meal you read so much about and see if it lives up to the hype.
