Reese’s New Treat Is Missing an Iconic Ingredient, but We Want It Anyway

Estimated read time 2 min read

There are very few things peanut butter doesn’t taste good with. Think cookies, fudge, ice cream, sauce, and even chicken soup. What about peanut butter on a burger? We say, why not? There are plenty of ready-to-eat snacks that rely on peanut butter as a main ingredient too. Probably none are as well-known or well-loved as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

The chocolate and peanut butter combination or the “two great tastes that taste great together” as its old marketing slogan used to say, is now iconic. This flavor combo appears in most of Reese’s products, and now, the brand is releasing a snack that’s ditching chocolate in favor of something else and we’re not mad about it.

Reese’s Filled Pretzels

According to Instagram’s @Candyhunting, Reese’s Filled Pretzels are pretzel nuggets filled with peanut butter. The concept is nothing new. Costco’s Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter Pretzel Nuggets are a fan favorite with the warehouse’s shoppers. Then there’s the Trader Joe’s version, which is in its customer-voted Hall of Fame. Similar to these other variations, Reese’s pretzels won’t contain any chocolate.

Maybe the absence of chocolate is a deliberate move. It’s much easier to pop a peanut butter-filled pretzel in your mouth while driving than a chocolate-covered pretzel. Plus, it’s less messy too.

Still, @Snackolator on Instagram mentioned that they “100% need these with Hershey’s chocolate coating them along with a variety where it’s a peanut butter creme coating because those would be absolutely incredible” and followers agreed.

“They should have dipped these in chocolate!!” one exclaimed. Another person said, “Confused where the Reese’s part is lmao.”

The Reese’s part is, of course, in the peanut butter, and even without chocolate, we want these new treats because peanut butter-filled pretzels are simply hard to resist. They are slotted to hit shelves next month, so keep your eyes peeled.
