Dessert Holdings, LLC has recalled a popular Target Favorite Day bakery item due to mislabeling. The Favorite Day Gourmet New York-Style Cheesecake has been recalled because the cheesecake contains pecans, but the packaging does not disclose that it contains tree nuts, one of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) required labels.
The recall was initiated on March 20 after the manufacturer received a customer complaint about the mislabeling. However, there have been no illnesses or allergic reactions reported at this time.
How to Identify the Recalled Favorite Day Cheesecake
The recalled Favorite Day Gourmet New York-Style Cheesecake was sold at Target stores in California, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas between Feb. 14, 2025, and March 7, 2025. You can verify if you have the recalled cheesecake by looking for the lot code 25028A1 000039133 and UPC 0 85239 09690 1 on the side of the plastic clamshell.
You can find product images in the recall press release.
No other Favorite Day products or bakery items are impacted by this recall.
What to Do if You Have the Recalled Product
If you have this product, and have a pecan or tree nut allergy or sensitivity, you should not consume the cheesecake as it can cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. Instead, you should throw the recalled cheesecake away or return it to Target for a full refund.
However, if you do not have a pecan or tree nut allergy or sensitivity, you technically don’t have to do anything about the recall. The Favorite Day cheesecake was only recalled for a package labeling error, not because the dessert is inherently unsafe. So, if you don’t have tree nut allergies or sensitivities, the cheesecake is safe for you to consume.
If you have any health-related questions, you should contact your healthcare provider. For questions regarding the recall, or to request a refund, you can contact Target Guest Relations at (800) 444-0680 or Dessert Holdings at (720) 766-9060 or marketing@dessertholdings.com.
