There is perhaps no experience more universal than ordering a takeout pizza on moving day. Whether you’re boxing up your room to head to college, off to your first apartment, moving in with a new love, settling into your first family home, or even into your brand-new retirement community, it’s a time-honored tradition that follows us throughout our lives.
In fact, according to a survey by Pizza Hut, Nearly nine out of 10 (87%) Americans say they have ordered pizza during a move, and 79% of movers even admitted to eating their moving day pizza on the floor. So, Pizza Hut figured it would help elevate the moving day pizza experience.
On Tuesday, the pizza chain announced its latest box innovation, specifically targeting movers with the launch of the Moving Box Table. Yes, just as the name implies, the box holding your pizza transforms into a miniature table so you can eat that floor pizza with dignity.
“Many can relate to the chaos that comes with moving, and the last thing you want to worry about is unpacking to enjoy a hard-earned meal at the end of a long day,” Melissa Friebe, the chief marketing officer of Pizza Hut, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “We love that pizza is a universal moving-day tradition for many, but we hate that it ends up eaten on the floor. This Moving Box Table will help us show up for Pizza Hut customers by providing not just a delicious pizza after a stressful moving day but somewhere easy and comfortable to enjoy it, too.”
The Moving Box Table features the brand’s iconic red checkered pattern on top of corrugated cardboard that folds out into a sturdy base. Then, users can just pop the pizza box tabletop on it to create that mini table.
Best of all, the Moving Box Table is complimentary with orders of a large menu-priced pizza for carryout orders. However, it’s only available at select Pizza Hut restaurants in three of the most popular U.S. cities to move to in 2023: Dallas, Charlotte, and Orlando.
Still, every little bit of help counts, especially when none of your friends show up to help you move your couch too.
