Pizza Hut Now Makes Cheeseburgers Melts

Think you can only get pizzas at Pizza Hut? Well honey, you better think again. 

On Tuesday, Pizza Hut announced it’s getting into the burger business with its brand-new Cheeseburger Melt, which is Parmesan-crusted thin crust melt folded and filled with beef, applewood-smoked bacon, onions, mozzarella, and cheddar, with the right touch of Burger Sauce on the side. So no, there’s no traditional bun, but that’s OK because that just makes it all the more unique to Pizza Hut. 

“As a brand known for exceptional pizzas, venturing into the burger business is an exciting first for us,” Lindsay Morgan, the chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine.

In an effort to get people to trade in their usual burgers for this new offering, Pizza Hut is stationing delivery drivers at certain famous burger chain drive-thrus with massive QR codes on the back of their cars, which curious diners can scan to get a free Cheeseburger Melt along with a Pepsi to wash it down with (while supplies last). The offer will be available in select markets where the “other guys” are headquartered — Chicago and Miami. 

In addition to the new cheeseburger, the Pizza Hut Melts are available in four other varieties, including Pepperoni Lover’s, which comes with marinara dipping saucs on the side, Buffalo Chicken, served with buffalo dipping sauce and ranch dipping sauce, Chicken Bacon Parmesan, served with ranch dipping sauce, and Meat Lover’s, which is also served with marinara dipping sauce on the side.

“For the first time ever, we packed everything you know and love about a cheeseburger into our craveable Thin N’ Crispy crust to develop the new Cheeseburger Melt,” Rachel Antalek, the chief food innovation officer at Pizza Hut, added. “Unlike a traditional cheeseburger, the Cheeseburger Melt dips perfectly into what we would argue is the world’s best burger dipping sauce. We challenge you to find a better burger and sauce experience.”

Right now, hungry guests can get the Cheeseburger Melt as part of the My Hut Box offer. For $6.99, guests can choose between Melts or two-topping Personal Pan Pizza, along with a side of fries or four boneless wings and a 20-ounce drink for good measure.
