An expanded recall on Vitamix blending container products was just announced, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This is due to the defective products posing a laceration risk for consumers.

The defective products are the 8-ounce and 20-ounce Vitamix Ascent Series and Venturist Series Blending Containers and Blade Bases. The original recall was issued in 2018 on 105,000 blending container products after multiple consumer reports of the blade base separating from the container caused hand injuries. Now, more than 400,000 products sold since the initial recall are also marked as a laceration hazard for the same malfunction.

These impacted items were sold at the following retailers: Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Target, Macy’s, Williams Sonoma, Walmart and independent stores nationwide in the U.S. and Canada. They were also sold online through Vitamix’s website, Amazon and QVC from April 2017 through May 2024.

If you have one of the above recalled containers on hand, stop using it immediately and contact Vitamix for a free repair kit to avoid future injury. For questions or to request a kit, you can visit the recall page on Vitamix’s website, email at service@vitamix.com or call toll-free at 855-215-5178 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.
