Over 2 Million Stanley Travel Mugs Were Just Recalled

There’s an active recall on approximately 2.6 million travel mugs sold nationwide, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. This is due to a safety hazard that has caused dozens of burn injuries.

The Stanley branded Switchback and Trigger Action stainless-steel travel mugs are affected by this recall. The following sizes and product identification numbers (PIN) printed on the bottom of the mug are affected:

  • Stanley Switchback, 12-ounce with PIN 20-01437
  • Stanley Switchback, 16-ounce with PIN 20-01436 or 20-02211
  • Stanley Trigger Action, 12-ounce with PIN 20-02033, 20-02779 or 20-02825
  • Stanley Trigger Action, 16-ounce with PIN 20-02030, 20-02745 or 20-02957
  • Stanley Trigger Action, 20-ounce with PIN 20-02034 or 20-02746

These travel mugs are being recalled after 91 reports of the lids easily detaching, resulting in a burn hazard. The mugs have caused 38 burn injuries worldwide, 11 of which required medical attention.

The Stanley mugs were sold via Amazon, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target and other retailers nationwide and online from June 2016 through December 2024. Check your travel mug for the recall information, and if it matches, return the mug for a refund.
