Orgain Just Recalled Protein Powder Nationwide

Estimated read time 2 min read

There’s an active recall on a popular brand of protein powder, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). This is due to an undeclared allergen in the product.

The Orgain branded chocolate-flavored 30G Protein Organic Plant Based Powder was sold in retail stores and online across the U.S. The 2.01-pound plastic tubs affected by this recall have a lot code of “4172-02-P” and an expiration date of June 20, 2026, printed on the packaging.

This protein powder is being recalled because it may contain undeclared peanut residue, following a report from a customer who experienced an allergic reaction. Those who have a peanut allergy may experience an allergic reaction as serious as anaphylaxis if they unknowingly consume this product. Symptoms of anaphylaxis include hives, swelling, trouble breathing, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, tightness of the throat and cardiac arrest. If you are showing signs of anaphylactic shock after eating this recalled protein powder, call 911 immediately.

Orgain is urging those who bought the protein powder to dispose of it as soon as possible. For questions or more information on how to receive a refund, contact the Orgain Consumer Care Team at 888-881-4246 or email support@orgain.com Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST.

No other Orgain protein powders are currently impacted by this recall.
