Lucasfilm has announced Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, an upcoming collection of Star Wars shorts, and it’s all about the dark side.
“Long live the Empire,” reads a line from the show’s description. All six original shorts arrive on Disney+ on May 4, which just so happens to be Star Wars Day. This new series of shorts follows 2022’s Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which was a collection of six Jedi-focused stories.
Tales of the Empire tells its story through two warriors on diverging paths–one story tells the tale of Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) and the other follows former Jedi Barriss Offee (Meredith Salenger). “Tales of the Empire focuses on previously untold events in the lives of the featured characters,” Lucasfilm said.
The show also features major Star Wars characters such as Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), the Fourth Sister (Rya Kihlstedt), General Grievous (Matthew Wood), the Grand Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs), and Darth Vader (no voice actor announced).
Tales of the Empire was created by Star Wars veteran Dave Filoni. After Tales of the Empire, Lucasfilm will release the next live-action Star Wars TV show, The Acolyte, on June 4.
Lucasfilm is planning additional Star Wars Day celebrations, including a 20-hour marathon of the Skywalker Saga movies and The Phantom Menace returning to theaters.
