Life by You, the highly anticipated life sim from Paradox Interactive, has finally landed an early-access release date. After a short delay, the upcoming The Sims 4 competitor is scheduled to launch on PC on June 4, 2024. The game will be available to preorder and purchase through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
First teased back in March 2023, Life by You aims to give players more control over their game than any life sim before it. In the game’s most recent press release, Paradox Interactive wrote, “This world is your sandbox. Create your humans, or play anyone within it–swap control at any time with any character you encounter. You can climb a career ladder, choose to be a misfit, fall in love as often as you change your clothes, or explore your sexuality.”
Life by You features a completely open world with full transportation via car, bikes, scooters, and your character’s own two feet. Players will get to watch conversations with real-language dialogue unfold, and customize nearly every aspect of both their homes and their town. And, if that’s not enough, Paradox Interactive has stated the game will support player-made mods and creations through its Paradox Mods portal.
“At the core of Life by You is the player community,” Rod Humble, general manager of Paradox Tectonic, said. “We’ve created a sandbox where players can tell whatever story they want. From deeply personal, esoteric, or fan fiction, they can live life to the fullest or break the rules as they see fit.”
As the studio behind Crusader Kings, Stellaris, and Cities: Skyline, Paradox Interactive has a great deal of experience when it comes to strategy and simulation-driven titles. However, Life by You is the studio’s first life sim. Paradox Interactive stated it will use the game’s upcoming early-access period to gather community feedback that will then be implemented prior to the game’s full launch.
