From trendy weight loss drinks to medications like Ozempic, it can be hard to sift through the fads. Reality star Khloé Kardashian gives her insight on these trends and what actually worked for her own weight loss.
Khloé has been the subject of many conversations regarding weight loss over the years. In the most recent episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, she opened up about her weight loss journey. In particular, she addressed the recent spike in popularity of using medications like Ozempic to lose weight.
If you aren’t familiar with the drug, Ozempic is a FDA-approved medication prescribed to help people with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar levels. While the Ozempic website acknowledges that it can help contribute to weight loss, it very plainly states that Ozempic is not a weight loss drug. Even so, it has gained popularity with many celebrities and influencers who praise it as an effective way to lose weight quickly.
Kardashian has denied using Ozempic or any other medication to help her achieve a healthier weight. But she candidly admitted that if it had been available when she was trying to lose weight, she likely would have tried it.
“When I was bigger, if they had Ozempic, I probably would’ve tried it,” she revealed. “I tried any fad weight loss trend, except for the real thing that actually works, and that’s a lifestyle change.”
For her, lifestyle changes meant being more active while maintaining a healthy relationship with food. The reality star also implores people to have a positive mindset regarding weight loss, noting that she wants to “encourage healthiness and not about the number on a scale.”
Especially in today’s era of viral social media trends and society’s pressure to adhere to ever-changing beauty standards, it’s important to understand your reasoning for pursuing weight loss. When starting your own weight loss journey, you might find it helpful to work alongside a registered dietitian who can help support your wellness goals with professional guidance. And no matter the approach you take, it’s imperative to maintain a healthy relationship with your body. Food should be enjoyed and not viewed as “bad” or “unhealthy.” All foods can fit into a healthy eating pattern, including foods you love.
