Ina Garten Just Shared 3 Homemade Halloween Treats

Estimated read time 3 min read

Whether you have Halloween party plans or you’re staying in on the night of fright, Ina Garten just shared a few recipes that are worth making for the 31st.

In a recent Instagram post, the Be My Guest host shared three treats she’s looking to make this year, including a fall-forward dessert.

“When everyone is getting ‘store-bought’ treats for Halloween, I like to surprise people and serve something delicious and homemade,” Garten writes on the post highlighting the three recipes. We believe she will be making these for her adult friends on Halloween—we wouldn’t recommend homemade treats for trick-or-treaters. But they’re great for sharing with your kids or other family and friends as the holiday approaches.

Here’s what the Be Ready When the Luck Happens author plans to make this year, plus more spooky and autumnal recipes to try.

Apple Pie Bars

According to Garten’s comments, this is clearly a fan-favorite recipe. These Apple Pie Bars are raved about in the Barefoot Contessa’s comment section, with praises calling the treat “amazing” and “delicious.”

The bars are a handheld version of apple pie, and they’re great for both kids and adults to enjoy. Our version, Flaky Apple Pie Bars, are also highly rated, and if you’re looking for a dessert with less sugar, these No-Sugar-Added Mini Apple Pies don’t spare any flavor.

Black & White Cookies

A New York classic, Black & White Cookies are soft vanilla-based cookies that are iced, one half with chocolate icing and the other half with vanilla icing, hence the name. Garten’s version requires ingredients you probably already have on hand if you’re a baker, and their look mimics a half moon, giving it a spooky feel.

Here are some more festive cookies that should be on your list this season: our five-star Pumpkin Sugar Cookies, Spiced Pumpkin Cookies and Coffee Star Cookies to go with the black and white moons.

French Chocolate Bark

Knowing Ina, something with a French twist had to be in the lineup, so this French Chocolate Bark is the perfect fit. With a chocolate base, you can recreate this recipe with any dried fruit or nuts you have on hand—Garten uses dried cherries, dried apricots, golden raisins, whole cashews and dried crystallized ginger.

If you’re not a chocolate lover, our brand-new Apple Crumble Yogurt Bark embraces fall’s best fruit and will pair well alongside Garten’s bark. Plus, try our own chocolate bark recipes, like our Peanut Butter-Banana Chocolate Bark or this Peppermint-Chocolate Greek Yogurt Bark.
