I Found $2 Stoneware Pasta Bowls Identical to Le Creuset’s

Estimated read time 3 min read

I’ve always loved to cook, and as I’ve added new recipes and techniques to my kitchen repertoire, my cookware collection has grown, too. That includes 18 pieces of Le Creuset’s unrivaled stoneware for everything from baking a tomato tarte to whipping up a deep casserole dish of my grandma’s lasagna.

But one piece of the brand’s line that I just couldn’t bring myself to buy is its $72 four-piece pasta bowl set — and that’s especially true now that I found a near-identical option at Walmart that’s less than $3 per bowl.

I ordered the dishware on a whim to see what all the fuss is about with pasta bowls. I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting much from something that costs less than $3, but when they arrived in the mail, I was stunned by their weight. The bowls are made out of real stoneware, and their heft is so much more luxurious than their price tag. Plus, Mainstays seems to have been inspired by the simple, yet aesthetically pleasing design of Le Creuset’s bowls and monochromatic color scheme, which are imitated here to a T.

These shockingly affordable pasta bowls have the standard, classic design as others in their category: They’re shallow but have a wide bowl that allows ingredients, like spaghetti, to be completely covered in a sauce, as opposed to deeper bowls that leave noodles bare at the bottom. But I’m reaching for these for nearly every meal of the day. I’ve smeared spoonfuls of yogurt and sprinkled it with granola and berries in the morning, layered rice below air fried cubes of crispy-skinned salmon with broccoli spears, and have served myself and my husband sandwiches, brownies, and wings in these bowls.

The bowls have more than 500 perfect reviews from shoppers who agree with my thought that they could easily be much more expensive than they are. Several people noted how convenient they are to clean since they’re dishwasher friendly, and noted the bowls are substantial-feeling, strong, and durable. Others agreed that they serve so many purposes in their homes, with one adding that they’ve even used them as servingware during dinner parties.

Pasta bowls are more than just a passing fad. They’re here to stay thanks to their versatility, and the Mainstays Chiara Stoneware Pasta Bowl is a fantastic option at less than $3 apiece. Grab yourself a few while they’re still in stock at Walmart, and take a look at more options below.
