I Ditched My Salad Spinner for This Space-Saving Alternative, and I’m Never Going Back

Estimated read time 3 min read

As a remote worker, I live a bit of a nomadic lifestyle. I’m constantly moving from one short-term lease to the next, and to avoid breaking my back in the process, I prefer to pack light. When it comes to kitchen gear, I only travel with the bare essentials that can take on multiple tasks and easily fit in a suitcase. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include my beloved salad spinner. The tool is too bulky take on the go.

Without a salad spinner, washing and drying my produce takes forever and makes a mess. So when I saw the Mirloco salad sling on a recent rerun of Shark Tank, I couldn’t buy one fast enough. It seemed like a worthy alternative.

In the summer, I take my salads seriously, but without an efficient way to rinse and dry my fruits and vegetables, the process can be tedious. I love my OXO salad spinner, but thanks to its generous 6-quart capacity, it’s currently sitting in a storage unit along with my pots, pans and other cumbersome kitchen gear and appliances that don’t fit into my luggage.

Up until now, I was using paper towels and cotton dish towels to dry my greens, but they were never absorbent enough and left puddles of water on the countertop. This clever pouch is the perfect solution. The microfiber material absorbs moisture fast and dries quickly, and best of all, it features a waterproof liner that prevents excess water from dripping out of the sling and onto my kitchen floor. It also keeps the other side dry, so you can use it twice in one go.

Plus, using it is both intuitive and enjoyable. All I have to do is put my freshly-washed produce in the center of the towel, gather all four corners of the sling in my hand, and swing it around for 5 to 10 seconds. Shoppers agree that it’s surprisingly fun to use: “I can stretch, relieve stress, and dry my salad fixings all at once,” wrote one reviewer.

The towel can be folded or rolled for easy storage, meaning it can fit in any drawer or kitchen cabinet. The pouch is machine washable, so I can use it over and over again

Shoppers say the Mirloco Salad Sling is “better than a salad spinner,” and since I started using it, it’s hard to disagree. This versatile, ultra-absorbent pouch helps me dry all my fruits and vegetables, and it’s perfect for minimalists like myself. Head to Amazon now to grab yours for $24.
