After almost a decade since Hugh Jackman last portrayed Wolverine, he had to get back in prime shape. On his social media, the actor thanked his special team of trainers with creating his exercise and diet routine. There was also a special ingredient to making him look lean and glistening on camera when he wasn’t donning Wolverine’s yellow and blue costume: lube.
“Honestly I just wanted to take a second to say yeah, I had to do those deadlifts and eat those meals but I had an incredible team that helped me,” Jackman said. He went on to name the eight people who helped him, mainly Beth Lewis who has worked with the X-Men actor before. Then there was Whitney, his makeup artist.
“She was called in to…put on, I don’t even know what it was, some kind of oil to make my skin glisten,” Jackman laughed. “You would hear Shawn Levy yell out ‘Fresh lube on Hugh!'” He also thanked Levy and Ryan Reynolds for being two of the best creatives he’s worked with and helping him make the movie the best it could be.
Jackman has played Wolverine since 2000’s X-Men, the film that launched the franchise. This summer’s Deadpool and Wolverine, the third movie in the Deadpool franchise, crossed over the $1 billion threshold at the global box office and became the biggest R-rated film ever.
