How to Get a Costco Membership for $20

A Costco membership comes with plenty of perks, including the chance to buy massive amounts of your favorite groceries for less, like deals on meats, astonishing bargains on wines, and even reduced prices on luxury goods like caviar. If any of those piqued your interest, and you’re not already a member, you’re in luck — because the warehouse is offering a seriously steep discount on its memberships right now. 

In November, Costco fans found a limited-time deal on Stack Social, which offers the brand’s usual $65 Gold Star membership. However, with the deal customers also get a $45 Costco gift card to use during their first shopping trip, which brings the membership price down to just $20. 

“Costco is your one-stop shop for everything you want, and offers a wide range of merchandise that will likely cover all of your shopping needs,” the listing reads. “With hundreds of locations across the country, Costco is the ideal place to shop without the hassle of having to run numerous errands around town.”

It adds that a Gold Star Membership includes a free “Household Card and allows you to purchase products for your home and family. Your Gold Star Membership is valid for one year at any Costco location worldwide and at Costco.com.” A Costco Household Card allows another member of your household over the age of 16 to shop at the superstore, even though they’re not the primary membership holder.

As for the fine print, the deal notes that the promo code for the membership must be purchased by December 22, 2024, and must be redeemed by January 31, 2025, to qualify. 

“Qualified members will receive their $45 Digital Costco Shop Card by email within two weeks of redeeming your purchase,” the details section explains. The deal is only valid for new members, or for individuals whose memberships have been expired for more than 18 months. Purchasers can buy up to two memberships — one for themselves and one to gift — and what would make someone happier than being given a Costco membership for the holidays?

A Gold membership also comes with the company’s “100% Satisfaction Guarantee,” which Costco says means “We will cancel and refund your membership at any time if you are dissatisfied.”

The only perks it doesn’t include are the Annual 2% Reward, which provides 2% or up to $1,250 back on eligible Costco and Costco Travel purchases, and any other additional discounts that are exclusive to Executive Members.
