Hasbro dropped a new look at a plethora of incoming arrivals for its Marvel Legends line, and it is certainly a random plethora, covering everything from Spider-Man, the X-Men, Captain America, and more—including a sideways step into the most feral build-a-figure yet.
Today’s Hasbro Pulse stream dropped a ton of new looks at figures coming across the next few months—and even though there wasn’t an MCU figure among them, there’s plenty of deep cut comics figures on the way. One acquiescence to the world beyond comics was a new Spider-Man: The Animated Series two-pack bringing Doctor Strange and Morbius to life, but beyond that, it’s comics all the way down—two new Captain America figures for Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers (well, the Hydra-brainwashed version of him); a two-pack of Spider-Man and Wolverine based in their Fantastic Four suits; and even a new release of the original Baron Zemo (Heinrich, not Helmut!) and Arnim Zola in their classic comics colors.
But perhaps the weirdest mix came in the one set of figures Hasbro announced pre-orders for: the next general wave of Marvel Legends. With no unifying theme like a team or a movie to build around, it’s a veritable grab bag of characters, like a comics version of Ikaris, a very Marvel vs. Capcom-inspired version of Cable, and… Ka-Zar of the Savage Land? At least Ka-Zar gets a friend in the wave’s build-a-figure bonus: his feral friend, Zabu the saber-tooth tiger. It’s a very odd mix of characters, especially as it’s going to be a while until Hasbro has a new Marvel movie or show to anchor a set of new releases around. But hey, if it means some more obscure comics choices getting a moment in the toy spotlight, we can’t really complain.
The Zabu build-a-figure wave, including Cable, Wolfsbane, Ikaris, Red Widow, Ka-Zar, Black Winter, and Superior Iron Man, will go live for preorder on Hasbro Pulse this week, February 22 at 1 p.m. ET, with preorders for the other reveals coming at a later date.
