Get ready to find the peanut butter to your jelly because duos is on the way for Fortnite Reload. Developer Epic revealed today that squads won’t be the only option in the popular new mode starting tomorrow.
The official Fortnite account on X (formerly known as Twitter) announced Reload Duos will launch at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET on June 27. Currently, Fortnite Reload only features squads consisting of four players.
For those unfamiliar, Fortnite Reload takes place on a smaller island featuring the beloved location Tilted Towers. There is a maximum of 40 people and players can respawn instead of revived by teammates. But that only happens if one of your squadmates is still alive. It’s all similar to Call of Duty: Warzone’s Resurgence. It would seem that duos will lead to even shorter matches, since eliminating full teams should be a lot easier.
So far, Fortnite Reload feels like an apology to sweaty streamers. Not only that, but GameSpot writer Phil Owen believes the new mode appeals to a wider audience, too. He wrote: “So, yeah, I love Fortnite Reload, and I wasn’t even one of those folks who hated Chapter 5 Season 3–I’ve been a big fan of this season’s whole car thing, in fact.”
Fortnite Reload isn’t the only new, big-time event to take place in the game recently. Over this past weekend, there was a Metallica concert in the game, as well.
