The movie based on Five Nights at Freddy’s was a huge success in 2023, and a sequel is in the works. Now, a major development has unfolded, as a report has revealed when the movie is set to begin filming.

Collider’s sources have said that FNAF 2 will begin production at the end of October 2024–which is just in time for Halloween. The first movie filmed in and around New Orleans, but there is no word yet on the filming locations for the sequel.

The reveal of when FNAF 2 may begin filming comes not long after series creator Scott Cawthon released four pages from the movie’s script on social media. However, Cawthon said only one of the pages is legitimate, and fans will have to guess as to which one is real. Here are the four pages:

The FNAF movie was Blumhouse’s most successful movie of all time based on box office performance, outpacing M. Night Shyamalan’s Split.

FNAF 2 is expected to bring back Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson to reprise their roles, while the movie will no doubt add new cast members as well. Earlier in 2024, Hutcherson said he and his cast mates were “patiently waiting” for news about the sequel.

“I think that they have a lot to figure out as far as where to take the story because there’s a lot of options based on the various formats of the game and story and lore,” he said at the time. “So, I think they’re kind of trying to nail down exactly which avenue they’re gonna proceed down, and then we’ll get to shooting.”

FNAF was not the only success story in the world of video game movies in 2023, as The Super Mario Bros. Movie was another breakout success with more than $1.3 billion at the box office. On the other end of the spectrum, Lionsgate’s Borderlands made only $30 million worldwide this year.
