There’s a certain narrative arc in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, one that’s surprisingly tied to a minigame. During the later stages, you can even acquire powerful rewards. Here’s our guide on how to get the legendary Emerald Witch card in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
How to get the Emerald Witch card in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
The Emerald Witch card can be yours upon defeating opponent #29, which lets you go from the Blood Sovereign rank to the Blood Executioner rank. We’ve got the full process outlined in our opponents and rankings guide.
Where to find the Monster of Chaos
Once you reach the Blood Sovereign rank, Chadley will inform you that your next opponent is in Nibelheim. Head to the open yard to the right of Shinra Manor to find an individual known as the Monster of Chaos waiting for you.
How to win the match
The Monster of Chaos loves to use cards like Jabberwock and Joker. Basically, your enemy’s focus is on debuffing and destroying cards, all to act as a feeder for the Joker. This is usually followed by Yin & Yang, a replacer card. When it switches with a card that’s in play, it also increases the power of affected cards based on the value of the one it replaced. Let’s not forget some Insectoid Chimeras, which can also replace and add pips as openings for pushes.
Lastly, there’s the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Emerald Witch card. It can buff allies and enemies along a diamond-shaped pattern, so it’s something to watch out for.
We countered this playstyle by focusing on our own self-enhancers like Ifrit. We even got lucky when we managed to place a Loveless that was almost completely surrounded by our own cards. You can learn about these tactics in our best cards guide.
Emerald Witch card effects
The Emerald Witch card has the following characteristics:
- +2 power
- +2 rank cost
- Opener/rank increase: Cross-shaped pattern
- Ability: +2 power for all affected allied and enemy cards; diamond-shaped pattern.
As you can see, the Emerald Witch card is suitable for B1 or B2 placements. There are certainly some risks involved, since it’s guaranteed to buff enemy cards, too. However, if you have setups that utilize power enhancers from buffed enemy cards (i.e. Space Ranger or Adjudicator), then you shouldn’t worry too much.
That’s how you get the Emerald Witch card in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. After this, Chadley will inform you about one final challenge: the Shadowblood Queen.
