What does a typical day of training food look like?

Normally for breakfast I have something like pitta and shakshuka or overnight oats. For lunch, I tend to have sweet potato with salmon and some veg. In the evening, I go for white fish – cod or sea bass – with veg, like Jamaican cabbage. In between, I have protein shakes after training sessions and protein yogurts as snacks. For a treat after dinner, I tend to make my own protein ice cream.

What are your go-to energy-boosting snacks?

Probably fruit winders. It sounds random, but I’m trying not to eat so many sweets, so I try to make my own fruit winders that are healthier for me. Otherwise, I end up eating shop-bought sweets.

How does your diet vary when you have to follow such a strict training regimen?

I play around with different flavours. My background is Jamaican, so I take a lot of influences from that, as well as my British heritage. I also get a vegetable box sent to me so I can try different veg – that makes it a little bit more exciting.

What do you eat on your days off?

My days off are pretty similar to my training days, except I try to reduce the carbs a little as I still need to recover from training.

What would your top diet and exercise advice for an amateur athlete be?

Make sure you have a balanced diet and that you’re fuelling with carbohydrates before training, then recovering with protein afterwards.

Do you have any advice for getting more protein into your diet?

I make my own protein ice cream using my Ninja Creami. I also make banana bread with protein powder, or protein pancakes. If you don’t want to use protein powder, snacks like Greek yogurt are also a good source.

Apart from your speciality, what’s your favourite sport or exercise?

I quite enjoy watching football.

What’s your favourite recipe on goodfood.com?

This is probably the white chocolate & strawberry choux buns.
