Earth’s New Teaser Is a Creepy Scramble for Earth

Estimated read time 3 min read

We’re slowly but surely inching our way towards the arrival of Alien‘s mysterious new TV showAlien: Earth, and so far we mostly know that it’s got aliens and earth in it. Its new teaser pretty much offers much of the same, but with a creepily inventive twist.

FX and Hulu have dropped another tease for Noah Hawley’s new Alien series, set two years before the events of the original film. Yes, it’s another teaser that’s not actually got anything from the show in it, but certainly has An Alien and An Earth in it. But it’s actually pretty nifty, in so much as it gives us the set up for the show’s earthbound premise–from the perspective of the xenomorph who’s going to be making a crash landing on our little planet to get things going.

The alien POV shot is always a fun one, so this is all good and creepy and claustrophobic, but it remains to be seen just what the actual show looks like at this point. It’s being kept pretty close to the chest right now, not-unlike a xenomorph baby waiting to burrow its way out of you–we’ve had a few cryptic shots here and there, but for the most part a lot of what we’ve seen of Alien: Earth so far is, presumably not actually from Alien: Earth.

What do we know about it? Beyond the setting (which was shifted from the previous tease of the show being set decades before the events of Alien), we know Earth follows a squad of tactical soldiers and a young woman on a search and rescue mission, who come across a ship that has crash-landed on Earth… i.e., the one we see in this trailer with its creepy crawly inhabitant. We know the show’s going to have its own freaky twists on the Xenomorph to explore, so suffice to say this skittering terror is going to be up to no good once it gets off the ship and into our lives when Alien: Earth begins this summer.
