There’s no ice cream on the market quite like Dippin’ Dots. The “Ice Cream of the Future” is known for its signature beaded shape, which comes from a unique cryogenic freezing process. Over the years, the treat has built quite the fan base, setting the bar for the perfect bite, with each spoonful containing the ideal balance of flavors. Over the years Dippin’ Dots’ lineup has grown to include flavors such as Rainbow Ice, Ultimate Brownie Batter Ice Cream, and, most recently, Frozeti Dough, a cookie dough-filled ice cream named after the brand’s mascot Frozeti the Yeti.
But up until now, the Kentucky-based brand’s treats have only been available at Dippin’ Dots locations, convenience stores, and amusement and entertainment venues. Now, Dippin’ Dots’ is expanding its reach by launching a flash-frozen ice cream in grocery stores for the very first time.
Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream Lands in Grocery Stores With 2 New Layered Sundaes
Fans of Dippin’ Dots can now enjoy the beaded ice cream whenever the mood strikes. Dippin’ Dots Sundaes are expected to make their debut at Kroger stores in early 2025, with more locations rolling out later in the year. The triple-layered treats will come in two varieties: Cookies ‘N Cream and Cotton Candy.
The Dippin’ Dots Cookies ‘N Cream Sundae will feature its namesake flavor mixed with crunchy chocolate cookie pieces. The dots are topped with a layer of creamy vanilla ice cream and finished with a smooth chocolate topping. For those who love bright and whimsical flavors, the Dippin’ Dots Cotton Candy Sundae uses Cotton Candy Dippin’ Dots mixed with cookie pieces as the base. It’s followed by a layer of vibrant blue cotton candy ice cream and a swirl of birthday cake-flavored topping.
This is the first time Dippin’ Dots ice cream will be available at grocery stores because the cryogenically frozen dessert typically requires freezers that can reach -40 degrees F (-40 degrees C) to maintain its shape, which is colder than most consumer and grocery store freezers. Some fans are curious what this means for the texture of the new sundaes.
“But will it be all clumpy? Dippin’ Dots have to be stored [in] sub below temps,” said one curious commenter on an Instagram post sharing the news.
It’s a good question, and one we likely won’t be able to answer until next year when they hit stores. But it’s safe to say most fans’ excitement overtakes any concern of texture issues. ”I need these so bad I don’t even care if the dots all stick together,” replied one fan.
