The investigation began upon reports of people falling ill, including some severe symptoms that include:

- Agitation
- Abnormal heart rates
- Blood pressure issues: blood pressure that is too high or too low

The investigation was announced on June 7, 2024, after eight people in four states reported becoming ill after ingesting the products. As of June 11, 2024, the total number of cases is 12 people in eight states. Of the 12 people, 10 have been hospitalized, with no reports of deaths.
Diamond Shruumz products are available online and at retail shops nationwide—typically those that sell CBD, hemp and THC products.
The FDA and other government agencies are urging consumers and retailers not to consume, buy, sell or serve these products, and to safely discard them if you have them. Because these products are marketed as candy, parents are urged to discuss this warning with their children and teenagers.
Should you consume any of these products and experience any of the above symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately and/or the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222. Be sure to tell them you recently ate Diamond Shruumz chocolate bars, cones and/or gummies. The investigation into the cause of these illnesses is ongoing, and more information (including next steps) will be provided by the FDA as it becomes available.
