Devil May Cry And Monster Hunter Board Games Get Solid Price Cuts At Amazon

Did you know that there’s a Devil May Cry 5 multiplayer game available right now? A tabletop multiplayer game, that is. Popular board game manufacturer Steamforged Games released Devil May Cry: The Bloody Palace a few years back. The board game originally carried a $115 list price, but it’s now out of print and there’s still some stock lingering at major retailers. Over at Amazon, you can grab the board game adaptation Capcom’s demon-hunting series for $43. And if you prefer to go hunting for demons on your own, The Bloody Palace is playable solo, too.

Steamforged also has two board game core sets for Monster Hunter World–Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste–as well as adaptations of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3. Like Devil May Cry, all of these are available for significantly less than their original list prices at Amazon.

Designed for both solo and competitive play, the Devil May Cry board game is based on the fifth mainline entry in the series and it puts an emphasis on both speed and style. Up to four people can take part, and each player will take control of an iconic character from the series–Dante, Nero, Lady, or V–as they race to pull off the most impressive attack combos and achieve the highest style rank. Each session lasts between 60-90 minutes, and you can expect a fast-paced arena-combat game where you’ll face off against hordes of increasingly powerful enemies.

If you like what you see, there are several expansions you can check out. The first one, Alpha and the Omega, lets you face off against Dante’s brother in either his incomplete Urizen state or in his more familiar form after he reunites both his demonic and human sides together. The Devil trigger expansion adds mini-figures of Sin Devil Trigger Dante and Nero alongside more than 80 new cards, and The Walking Arsenal adds enemies like the Hell Caina, Pyrobat, and Hellbat to the game, as well as a minifigure of Lady.

DMC: The Bloody Palace Expansions

Meanwhile, you can grab Devil May Cry 5 for a pretty decent price these days. If you haven’t played it–and you really should!–the special edition of the game is easily the best one as it includes Vergil as a playable character. Amazon has it for $24 new on PS5 and PC gamers can get it for $30 on Steam via Fanatical.

“DMC5 thrives on the stylistic and mechanical prowess of its predecessors. It sticks to tradition above all else, pursuing a few ambitious new ideas along the way, but mostly maintaining the series’ focus on intricate fighting systems and campy bravado. Rarely does the game stumble, consistently leveraging its spectacle and mechanical depth to push aside any small frustrations,” Matt Espineli wrote in GameSpot’s Devil May Cry 5 review.

While Devil May Cry: The Bloody Palace is a competitive board game, the first three Resident Evil games from Steamforged Games are cooperative survival experiences. Each core set costs $115 directly from Steamforged, but Amazon has all three for $64-$73. And if you prefer to hunt larger-than-life monsters rather than demons or the undead, you and your hunting crew can play the cooperative Monster Hunter World board game. Multiple core sets set in locales from the game are available. These sets originally sold for $120-$130 and are often sold out, so getting Ancient Forest or Wildspire Waste for less than $100 is a solid deal. Two expansions are available for for discounts, too.

If you haven’t played the original Monster Hunter World video game or want to replay it on PC or Steam Deck, Fanatical has a bundle with complete editions of Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise for only $20 until September 14. This budget-friendly collection includes the base games and a massive story expansion for each. Optional cosmetic add-on packs are available, too.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game

Though it’s not an adaptation of a Capcom game, Steamforged has another board game where you hunt huge creatures. Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game, a tactical co-op game based on PlayStation’s popular franchise, is available for $72 (was $100) at Amazon. Steamforged has expanded the Horizon Zero Dawn tabletop experience with multiple expansions:
