Delta Is About to Serve Shake Shack Burgers on Its Flights Out of Boston Logan International Airport

Travelers will soon be far closer to a gooey cheeseburger in a new plan that has Delta partnering with Shake Shack to bring the chain’s signature menu item to the carrier.

Starting December 1, this fresh approach to airline food takes flight out of Boston, when Delta starts adding the Shake Shack Cheeseburger to its menu. The airline says it plans to roll out the option to additional markets throughout 2025.

Expect a few caveats, though.

Likely the biggest obstacle is that the Shake Shack Cheeseburger is only available to fliers in first class. Add in that they need to pre-select the cheeseburger at least 24 hours in advance as their meal option — and the new items will only be made available on flights over 900 miles.

Still, Dela calls this a first-of-its-kind partnership. “A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food,” Stephanie Laster, managing director of Delta’s Onboard Service, said in a statement. “Our customers know that, which is why burgers are one of the top-ordered menu items we offer, and we’re thrilled to elevate the offering with Shake Shack.”

Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer, also the founder and executive chairman of Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), has previously partnered with Delta, offering meals from USHG’s catering arm on select Delta flights out of New York City’s John F. Kennedy airport. Shake Shack was founded in New York in 2004, also the site of USHG’s headquarters.

Shake Shack Cheeseburgers feature 100% Angus beef patties topped with cheese and offered on a toasted potato bun. Customers can opt to add tomato, lettuce, and the restaurant’s signature ShackSauce, all available on the side, for the Delta flight. That’s the extent of the Shake Shack options for now. The Delta meal includes chips, a Caesar salad, and a dark chocolate brownie meant to resemble the chain’s Shack Attack dessert.

“At Shake Shack, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet,” Michael Kark, president of global licensing at the restaurant, said in a statement. “Taking our believe cheeseburger to new heights, Shake Shack is proud to partner with Delta as we elevate the in-flight dining and hospitality experience for travelers across the country.”
